Alone or with a partner, you will be creating a survival manual using research from the internet. The webquest site will guide you through all the steps.
You must turn in your notes also. Each person in the group must turn in notes. BE SURE YOU WRITE DOWN WHERE YOU GET YOUR NOTES. DO NOT JUST CUT AND PASTE INFORMATION FROM THE WEBSITES. YOU MUST REWRITE IT IN YOUR OWN WORDS.
You will be creating a manual that is easy to read, with graphics or pictures that you draw.
You must have a map of your “island” as well as a description of it in your manual. Give it a name also. Be as specific as possible about the geography and resources of the island.
You must have five chapters. Each should be at least 2 pages long. You must have chapters on:
1. The map of your island, its name, and a description of it (can be 1 or 2 pages)
2. Supplies
3. Steps you should take once you get there
4. Things to avoid/dangers
5. Troubleshooting (what to do if….)
You must have a creative cover.
Make it look like a real manual as much as possible.
It is due Friday March 12. You will turn in the finished manual and your notes for a grade. You must turn in the notes also, so remember to write things down when you are doing your research!

Research links:
The district website offers access to elibrary, cqresearch, and many other research options. Please stay away from Wikipedia, since the information may or may not be reliable. I spent a good deal of time looking up sites that still have working links and lots of info, so save yourself time and frustration and use either these or the district links.
Newspaper Archive: read actual articles from the period and get ideas about layout and design:

http://www.infoplease.com/yearbyyear.html - a year by year quick summary of significant events in sports, fashion, politics, etc. Most links seem to work.
http://kclibrary.lonestar.edu/decade20.html – This site seems to have links to everything. It’s a library site in Kansas City.
